Bugger! Engaged!

Orwell -- Wednesday, December 01, 2004 -- 04:54:10 PM -- 3 of 652

Personally Hamish and Dougal must be one of the most unfunny comic creations in years.

Sladey -- Thursday, December 02, 2004 -- 07:04:01 AM -- 4 of 652

Yeah, but it doesn't matter because its 'Clue.

Sladey -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 11:51:05 AM -- 5 of 652

Poor Kathy! Just wait until the Grundys get hold of Owen...

Orwell -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 11:54:10 AM -- 6 of 652

Oh my goodness. I knew he was a nutter but had no idea that was coming.

jim -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 11:55:17 AM -- 7 of 652

I turned off halfway through, because I find him unlistenable.

Sladey -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 11:59:06 AM -- 8 of 652

I actually felt my stomach turn about a couple of seconds before the act. I had to turn the radio down too, because it was too disturbing.

Wonder if he was the same with Tracy Horribin?

Orwell -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 12:20:00 PM -- 9 of 652

Or Freda. The web site has him described as a ladies man but I don't remember him that well before the last few weeks. Was he always this odd?

jim -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 12:20:56 PM -- 10 of 652

He was a non-speaker, I think.

Sladey -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 12:22:50 PM -- 11 of 652

He had a few lines when he first came to work at Lower Loxley, but after that he was definitely Unheard in Ambridge.

Sladey -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 12:26:04 PM -- 12 of 652

Freda Fry? The swine!

Orwell -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 12:27:32 PM -- 13 of 652

Here's his bio:

Owen worked as the chef at The Bull for Sid and Kathy Perks before being poached (as it were) by their arch rivals the Cat and Fiddle. When that pub closed, Lower Loxley took him on at their Orangery café, where ironically he was once more to answer to Kathy in her new role as retail manager there. Owen's always been one for the ladies. While at The Bull he charmed Freda Fry (to Bert's discomfiture) and later took up with Tracy Horrobin, who 'worked' with him at both his later employers. Always willing to help out, Owen's expertise has been called on for Ambridge village events, including judging the food sections at the Flower and Produce Show and assisting with the revolting Bushtucker Challenge at the 2004 fete.

Sladey -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 12:39:37 PM -- 14 of 652

So, hovering background figure is the best description for him. I suppose they'd run out of true baddies.

Though I have to admit being of the Crawfordite "pave Ambridge over and build a leather coat factory" tendency...

Fiona -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 01:29:30 PM -- 15 of 652

Um, as I don't listen to the Archers, I must ask... what in the hell are you people talking about?!

jim -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 02:11:48 PM -- 16 of 652

There was a rape in Ambridge last night.

Fiona -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 02:16:50 PM -- 17 of 652

OK, I was guessing along those lines. Ta.

Bedsprings -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 02:17:01 PM -- 18 of 652

Oooh-errr - another Ambridge first... Glad I missed it.

jim -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 02:23:01 PM -- 19 of 652

According to the outraged Archers discussion board NOT a first - Walter Gabriel or someone raped someone in the '60s.

Sladey -- Friday, December 17, 2004 -- 02:25:55 PM -- 20 of 652

Walter Gabriel would never do such a thing. Simon Pemberton slapped Shula and Debbie around a bit in the 90s. I love the outrage though - "if I wanted to be shocked and appalled, I'd listen after 9pm. Or watch Eastenders..."
